OMDEC sponsors a World Vision child in Cambodia
We want to give back a little bit of the warmth and joy we received during the last year...
After a very successful and rewarding year OMDEC's management decided to take over the sponsorship of a child in Cambodia.
"We want to give back a bit of the joy and support we received during the last year while working with our partners and customers all over the world. To sponsor a child in need, it's family and it's community is the smallest step in that direction. World Vision seems to us as being a very good choice to help and see the results", says Klaus Krüppel, VP Sales.
The sponsored child is a nine year old girl called Yam that lives in Cambodia in Preah Vihear. Her community is part of the Plas Prai Program set up by World Vision.
The main obstacles the community is facing is the lack of water for use during the dry season and generally they do not have enough food throughout the entire year. A change in the rainy season limited the yield of the rice harvest. In addition there is only one health center in the target area.
Many children live far from the nearest school or are too poor to purchase uniforms and learning materials. World Vision is working to ensure that children have the tools to build a brighter future.
Yam is happy that she can attend school now and her parents are able to take her to a medical center if needed.
With OMDEC's last donation and World Vision's help Yam's family built a new house and the community was able to repair a rice storehouse to keep the rice dry.
